YouTube Public Data connection guide

Prev Next

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your YouTube Public data data to Supermetrics.

You can connect to data sources from the Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub. On the Hub, you can also share an authentication link to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in all available destinations.

Required permissions

To connect Supermetrics to YouTube Public Data, you need a Google account.

To get the YouTube channel ID, go to the Youtube channel and click the channel description at the top of the page. Scroll to the bottom of the popup, click Share channel, and then click Copy channel ID.

Query types

Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. You need to select one of the following query types when pulling data:

  • Channel: Retrieve channel details and performance data for any YouTube channel.

  • Channel videos: Retrieve YouTube video details and performance data for all videos of any YouTube channel.

  • Video: Retrieve YouTube video details and performance data for any YouTube video.

Connection instructions

When connecting to YouTube Public Data, you need to log in to Google and select the query type when prompted.

  1. Select the YouTube Public Data data source on the Supermetrics Hub or in the data destination.

  2. If prompted, choose to make this connection shared or private.

  3. Click Start.

  4. Select the Google account you want to login with.

  5. Select your account or brand account.

  6. Click Continue.

  7. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.

You can also connect to YouTube Public Data from these destinations:

Disconnecting YouTube and Supermetrics

If you want to disconnect your Google account used to access the Supermetrics YouTube data source connectors, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your linked apps in your Google Account.

  2. In the list of apps, click the Supermetrics app with the round icon (there may be several different Supermetrics apps linked).

  3. Under Supermetrics has some access to your Google Account, click See details.

  4. Click Remove all access.

Warning

Other Google data sources (such as Google Ads and Google Analytics) use this same app, so removing access will disconnect more than just your YouTube connection. If you wish to continue to use other Google data sources Supermetrics provides, you will need to reconnect each of those data sources again to continue service.
