This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your Matomo data to Supermetrics.
You can connect to data sources from the Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub. On the Hub, you can also share an authentication link to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.
After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in all available destinations.
Required permissions
To connect your Matomo account to Supermetrics, you need your Matomo base URL and your authentication token.
These instructions apply to both Matomo cloud-based version and on-premise installation.
Get your base URL
Log in to Matomo and open your dashboard.
Take a look at the URL in your address bar.
The first part of the URL before
index.php
is your base URL to use for login. For example:https://yourcompany.matomo.cloud
Get your authentication token
Log in to Matomo, and open your dashboard.
On the upper right-hand side, click the cogwheel icon to get to the Administration page.
On the left-hand side, under Personal, click Security.
Scroll down to the Auth tokens section and click Create new token.
Enter your password to continue.
Enter a description for the token, for example, “Supermetrics”.
Click Create token.
Copy the token and store it in a secure place for later.
Query types
Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. Set up your Matomo queries using any of the query types described below.

Connection instructions
When connecting to Matomo, you need to provide your credentials and select the accounts and query type when prompted.
Select the Matomo data source on the Supermetrics Hub or in the data destination.
Enter your base URL and auth token.
Enter a name for your account for you to identify it later.
If prompted, choose to make this connection shared or private.
Click Start.
In your data destination, select the accounts to include in your reporting and a query type.
