Things to consider

Day, hour, and total granularities

We currently only use the DAY and HOUR granularities offered by the Snapchat Marketing API. We don’t use TOTAL, as we may calculate some of the metrics on our side, and using TOTAL leads to issues and discrepancies in those cases.

Some additional details and conditions apply to unique count fields like the uniques, frequency, attachment_frequency and attachment_uniques metrics. See Snapchat Marketing API documentation for more details.

Total lifetime metrics

Total lifetime metrics can’t be used with account-level details:

  • Total reach (lifetime)

  • Unique impressions (lifetime)

  • Frequency (lifetime)

These fields must be requested with at least one of the following dimensions to work and carry a correct value:

  • Campaign name

  • Campaign ID

  • Ad squad name

  • Ad squad ID

  • Ad name

  • Ad ID

Failure to include one of those dimensions will result in an error like:

Lifetime reach metrics require at least one entity dimension (Campaign ID/name, Ad squad ID/name, or Ad ID/name)

For more details about unique metrics, see About aggregatable and non-aggregatable metrics.
