You can add an AI assistant to a dashboard in Supermetrics Studio so that the people you share the dashboard with can ask their own questions about the data. The assistant reads the dashboard it sits on and answers from the same live data as the charts, so the numbers it quotes match the numbers on the dashboard.
Note
Supermetrics Studio is in early access.
This article covers adding an assistant to a dashboard you've already built, adjusting how the assistant looks and behaves, and checking your sharing settings before you send the dashboard out. It doesn't cover building a Supermetrics Studio dashboard from scratch.
The following video describes the flow of setting up your AI assistant. The instructions in this article cover the same steps.
How the assistant works
SuperAI, the AI behind Supermetrics Studio, reads the dashboard before it builds the new assistant. It looks at the metrics, dimensions, and data on that specific dashboard, so what you get is an assistant for the data in front of it rather than a general chat window. On a dashboard reporting Google Analytics 4 site performance, for example, the assistant works from the site metrics, traffic channels, landing pages, campaigns, and anomalies that the dashboard already shows.
Because of this, the dashboard's contents set limits on what the assistant can answer. If a question needs a dimension that isn't on the dashboard, the answer won't include it. Review the dashboard and add anything missing before you add the assistant.
Answers come from live data. The assistant queries the same Supermetrics data the charts draw from, not a stored copy or a summary.
The assistant also comes with suggested questions. SuperAI writes these from the contents of your dashboard, so they differ from one dashboard to another. Viewers can click a suggestion to run it immediately, rather than writing a prompt themselves.
Before you begin
You need the following:
An existing Supermetrics Studio dashboard: The assistant answers from what's already loaded on the dashboard, so build the dashboard first and add the assistant to it.
A subscription for Supermetrics Studio that lets you edit dashboards: You add the assistant in the edit view. Editing requires an eligible Supermetrics subscription with the Supermetrics Studio destination. With an AI chats subscription, you can push dashboards to Supermetrics Studio and share them, but you can't edit them.

Instructions
Step 1: Add the assistant to the dashboard
Go to Supermetrics Studio.
Open the dashboard you want to add the assistant to and switch to the edit view.
In the prompt field, type
Add an AI assistant to my dashboard.and send the prompt.Check the name and placement of the assistant that appears on the dashboard.
You don't need a specific term for the feature. SuperAI interprets assistant, chatbot, data assistant, and copilot the same way, and builds the same thing.
Step 2: Adjust the assistant
Use the same prompt field to change the assistant after it's been added.
To rename the assistant, describe the name you want, such as
Call the assistant Data Assistant. This matters most on client-facing dashboards, where the assistant's name is part of your branding. To change where the assistant sits, ask for the placement you want, such as
Embed the assistant in the top-right panel instead of floating it.A floating bubble keeps the dashboard clean for people who only want the numbers, and an embedded assistant makes it clear that asking questions is part of the dashboard. To change the starting questions, describe the topics you want, such as
Change the suggested questions to focus on week-over-week spend efficiency and creative performance.Point the suggestions at the decisions the dashboard exists to support, because these are what most viewers will click.Test the assistant with a question you're often asked, such as
What's driving the increase in conversions this week?If the answer isn't one you'd send yourself, add the missing dimension to the dashboard and test again.
Step 3: Check your dashboard settings
An assistant lets viewers query your data, not just read it, so review your settings before you share the dashboard.
Click the cog icon at the top right to access the settings.
In the Data access section, select the data source credentials used when fetching data to the dashboard, either all viewers use the creator's credentials or are required to use their own. Give this the most thought on client-facing dashboards.
In the Allowed tools section, select the tools available to use in the dashboard. To populate the dashboard with data, the Data query tool is required.
Under Sources & Accounts, check the data sources and accounts used when populating the dashboard.
Step 4: Share the dashboard
At the top menu in Supermetrics Studio, click Share.
To share with a team, select the team and click Copy link. Each team member's access level depends on their role.
To share with individuals, enter their email addresses, select the access level (viewer or editor), and click Invite. Viewer is usually the right choice, because viewers can ask the assistant anything without being able to restructure the dashboard.
Next steps
Viewers can manage the assistant themselves. Clear resets the conversation, and Collapse hides the assistant, so an embedded assistant doesn't permanently take up dashboard space.
Once the dashboard is shared, review the suggested questions after a few weeks and update them to match what people are actually asking.
