How to create dashboards in Supermetrics Studio

Prev Next

With Supermetrics Studio, you can easily build AI-powered dashboards about your data, using your existing Supermetrics data connections. To get started, just give the Supermetrics Studio a prompt that describes the kind of dashboard you’d like to make. You can also upload a screenshot of an existing dashboard, and Supermetrics Studio builds it for you.

Before you begin

To edit dashboards directly in Supermetrics Studio, go to studio.supermetrics.com. You'll get a 14-day trial with 500 AI credits automatically. After the trial, editing requires an eligible Supermetrics subscription with the Supermetrics Studio destination.

If you have an AI chats subscription, you can already push dashboards to Supermetrics Studio to host and share them. Note that with just the AI chats subscription, you can't edit the dashboards in Supermetrics Studio. For editing, you need a subscription with the Supermetrics Studio destination.

Instructions

Create a dashboard in Supermetrics Studio

  1. Go to Supermetrics Studio.

  2. Click + New board to create a new board.

  3. Follow the instructions to create a dashboard you’d like to see. You can freely describe the dashboard contents, data, and style, or paste a file (image, PDF, HTML) of a dashboard you’d like to replicate.

See the AI use case examples for ideas.

Push a dashboard from an AI tool to Supermetrics Studio

There's no special command to push a dashboard you've built in an AI tool, such as Claude, to Supermetrics Studio. Ask your AI tool to upload or share the dashboard to Supermetrics Studio, and it calls the tool for you.

The Supermetrics Studio hosts the dashboard and gives you a link to share, and lets you refresh the data with no extra token cost.

If the option to push the dashboard to the AI tool doesn't appear, refresh the Supermetrics connector's tools. The following instruction is for Claude:

  1. Go to Customize.

  2. Click Connectors → Supermetrics.

  3. Click the 3-dot icon and select Refresh tools list.

Migrate a Data Studio dashboard to Supermetrics Studio

You can migrate an existing Data Studio dashboard to Supermetrics Studio in a few simple steps. Follow our migration guidance!

Modify a Supermetrics Studio dashboard

Modify using SuperAI

To make any changes to the dashboards, just tell SuperAI what you’d like to see.

  1. In Supermetrics Studio, open a dashboard and click Edit.

  2. In the SuperAI chat window, describe the change you’d like to make.

  3. Wait for the SuperAI to update the dashboard.

  4. Check that the changes look right on the dashboard. You can also request additional changes.

  5. Once you’re happy with your dashboard, click Save. Your chat history is stored along with the version number. This means that you can easily revisit what was changed.

Modify manually

To save your tokens for actual data work, you can also tweak the dashboards manually.

  1. In Supermetrics Studio, open a dashboard and click Edit.

    • To change any text on a dashboard element, click the text element to edit it.

    • To change the colors on the dashboard, open the Design tab in the AI assistant, click a color you want to change, select a new color, and click Save.

    • To rearrange elements on the dashboard, drag an element to a new place and drop it there. Note that not all elements can be dragged and dropped. If an element can’t be moved, ask the SuperAI to rearrange the dashboard.

    • To rename a dashboard, double-click the dashboard name. You can also rename a dashboard on the Supermetrics Studio home page: just click the pencil icon next to the name of the dashboard.

  2. Click Save after you’re done.

Add more features to the dashboard

With Supermetrics Studio, you can ask SuperAI to add features that save information on a dashboard, such as comments, targets, and notes. What you save stays on the dashboard when you refresh the page or come back later.

You can add:

  • Comments on charts: Leave feedback, flag numbers that look wrong, or note action items next to a specific chart, table, or scorecard.

  • Targets: Save monthly or quarterly goals, such as a revenue or conversion target, and show how your results compare.

  • Saved views and snapshots: Save a set of date ranges, filters, and segments so you can go back to it with one click.

  • Summary notes: Add a text area where you can write a summary of the results before you share the dashboard.

When you ask SuperAI to add one of these features, you can choose whether the information is shared with all dashboard viewers or private only for you. Changes to shared information show up for other viewers without them having to reload the page.

To add these features:

  1. Open your dashboard in Supermetrics Studio.

  2. Click Edit to open the SuperAI sidebar.

  3. Describe what you want to add. Name the chart it relates to, and say whether the information should be shared or personal.

  4. Check the result on the dashboard and ask SuperAI for changes if needed.

Example prompts:

  • Add a comment section to the Revenue by channel chart that everyone viewing this dashboard can see.

  • Add a monthly revenue target of 50,000 and show how this month compares.

  • Let me save my current date range and filters as a personal view.

Save short notes, targets, and summary figures rather than full data tables.

Manage campaigns in Supermetrics Studio

After you’ve built a dashboard for your campaign performance, you can also manage the campaigns directly from Supermetrics Studio.

Share a Supermetrics Studio dashboard

Share a dashboard link with your Supermetrics team

  1. At the top menu in Supermetrics Studio, click the share icon.

  2. In the General access settings, select the team to share the dashboard with. The team members’ access level depends on each team members’ role.

  3. Click Copy link to share the link with the team members.

Share a dashboard via email

You can share a dashboard via email with your team or with people outside your team.

  1. At the top menu in Supermetrics Studio, click the share icon.

  2. Enter the email addresses to share the dashboard with, select the access level (Viewer or Editor), and click Invite. For Editor access, a Supermetrics account is created unless they already have one.

Share a dashboard with anyone using a public link

  1. At the top menu in Supermetrics Studio, click the share icon.

  2. In the General access settings, select Anyone with the link can view.

  3. Set a password to make link sharing more secure. We recommend protecting the link with a password.

  4. Click Copy link. Now the dashboard can be shared with anyone. Remember to share the password, too!

Note that the dashboard owners can change the settings to require each viewer's credentials to fetch data. If this is changed, viewing dashboards shared using public links will require a Supermetrics account.

Embed a Supermetrics Studio dashboard

  1. At the top menu in Supermetrics Studio, click the share icon.

  2. Click Embed.

  3. Copy the code, and click Done.

You can embed a dashboard on an HTTPS page. Embedding to an HTTP page instead of an HTTPS page will result in widget errors. Note that password-protected dashboards can’t be embedded.

Download a Supermetrics Studio dashboard

Click Export at the top of the dashboard to download it as a PDF. Make sure that the options, such as date range, reflect the data you want to share.

Manage dashboard settings and permissions

  1. Click the cog icon at the top right to access the settings.

  2. In the Data access section, select the data source credentials used when fetching data to the dashboard — either all viewers use the creator’s credentials or are required to use their own.

  3. In the Allowed tools section, select the tools available to use in the dashboard. To populate the dashboard with data, the Data query tool is required.

  4. Under Sources & Accounts, you can add data sources or accounts to use when populating the dashboard. Note that you can also chat with the AI to add elements and data sources to the dashboard.

Manage your AI credits

You can check your remaining AI credits on the AI credits page. If you need more credits than your subscription includes, you can contact our sales team from the same page.

Some actions don't use AI credits:

  • Viewing, refreshing, and sharing a dashboard: These are free, no matter how much data the dashboard holds or how often you refresh it.

  • Building or editing a dashboard in an AI chat tool, then pushing it to Supermetrics Studio: If you have both an AI chats subscription and a Supermetrics Studio subscription, do your editing in an AI chat, such as Claude, and push the result to Supermetrics Studio at no credit cost. See Push a dashboard from an AI tool to Supermetrics Studio.

You use AI credits when you prompt the SuperAI to build or edit a dashboard directly in Supermetrics Studio. AI features inside a dashboard, such as an AI summary or AI chat widget, also use credits each time a viewer interacts with them.

To get more value from your credits:

  • Start from what you already have. Upload a PDF, image, or screenshot of an existing dashboard instead of describing one in a blank prompt. Supermetrics Studio has less work to figure out, so this uses roughly half the credits of a blank-prompt build.

  • For quick cosmetic changes, such as editing text or colors, edit the dashboard directly instead of asking the AI assistant to do it. See Modify a Supermetrics Studio dashboard.
