With Supermetrics, you can create, update, and manage ad campaigns directly in Claude or Gemini Enterprise, or through the Supermetrics MCP server. Instead of switching between ad platforms, you describe what you want, and the AI handles the rest.
You can view, create, and update ad campaigns across Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and TikTok Ads — without leaving your chat window.
Campaign planning
Get started with your campaigns by proper data-powered planning and find out what would work to reach your targets.
Research before you build: Pull historical performance data for similar targeting and creatives, and use those results to inform your next campaign — instead of starting from scratch.
Find keyword gaps: Compare impression share gaps with search volume to decide which opportunities are worth targeting.
Estimate reach in a new market: Before you commit budget to the campaign, get an estimate of audience size and interest across platforms to set realistic expectations.
Expand a campaign to a new platform: Copy an existing campaign structure from Google Ads and adapt it for Microsoft Advertising or TikTok Ads — without rebuilding from scratch.
Campaign execution and optimization
Keep an eye on your ad campaigns, review any changes, and adjust accordingly when issues arise.
Identify underperforming campaigns, pause, and fix: Identify campaigns that aren't meeting your targets, pause them, and reallocate budget — all in the same conversation without switching tools.
Review before you apply: Every proposed change is shown to you before it goes live, so you can confirm or adjust before anything is applied.
Refresh ad creative when performance drops: Spot declining CTR and generate replacement images with AI in the same session.
Build multi-platform campaigns: Create variants adapted for Google Ads, Meta Ads, and TikTok Ads in one conversation without switching between interfaces.
Undo a change that hurt performance: Review what was changed in your Campaign history and revert it if needed.
New campaigns are always created with a paused status so you can review them before they go live.
Note
This feature is currently in early access and is free to use with your existing Supermetrics subscription.
Before you begin
To manage campaigns in Claude or Gemini, you need an active Supermetrics subscription with Claude or Gemini as an AI chat destination.
To use the Supermetrics MCP server, your Supermetrics subscription must include Supermetrics MCP server access.
You have connected to a data source account with at least 1 of the supported ad platforms: Google Ads, Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising, or TikTok Ads.
You need to grant write access to the accounts you want to manage. You can only grant write access to accounts that belong to data source connections you own.
Grant write access to your ad accounts
Before you can create or update campaigns, you need to grant write access to the accounts you want to manage.
Select the accounts you want to use for campaign management.
Save your settings.
Once write access is granted, you can start managing campaigns in Claude, Gemini, or through the Supermetrics MCP server.
Campaigns are created safely
All campaigns are created in a paused state. This means that nothing goes live until you've reviewed the campaign and explicitly enabled it.
Every change is also logged in the Campaign history on the Supermetrics Hub, so you can see exactly what was changed and undo actions if needed.
Instructions
Create a campaign
In Claude or Gemini, describe the campaign you want to create. Include details like the platform, budget, targeting, and the goal of the campaign.
The AI confirms your account selection and campaign settings before creating anything.
The campaign is created in a paused state. Review the campaign details, targeting, and ad creative.
When you're ready to go live, ask the AI to enable the campaign — or enable it directly in the ad platform.
Double-check before going live
Always double check AI-assisted campaign interactions and their related cost impact before execution. You are responsible for your interactions with AI and any actions taken by it and the related cost this may generate for your campaigns.
Update an existing campaign
In Claude or Gemini, describe the change you want to make. For example: "Pause all Google Ads campaigns where the cost per acquisition is over €50" or "Increase the budget for my TikTok campaign by 20%."
The AI shows you the proposed changes before applying them.
Confirm the changes to apply them.
All updates are logged in your Campaign history.
Disable campaign management
If you want to turn off campaign management for your team, contact Supermetrics support to have the feature disabled on your account.
Troubleshooting
Write access isn't working even though it's enabled
If you've switched on write access in Write settings on the Supermetrics Hub, but campaign creation or updates still fail, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Disconnect and reconnect the Supermetrics connector in Claude or Gemini. If your session started before you enabled write access, it won't pick up the change automatically.
Check the error message for a team ID. If it says write access is enabled in a different Supermetrics team, you have more than one team and enabled write access on the wrong one. Switch to the team named in the error on the Hub, then enable write access there.
Confirm that you have edit access on the ad platform itself, not just read access. Write access in the Hub only reflects the Supermetrics-side permissions. If you have view-only or standard access to the Google Ads or Meta account, campaign changes will still fail.
If all 3 checks pass and the error persists, contact our support team with the trace ID from the failed request.
Campaign management features disappear intermittently
This is a known issue. The current workaround is to start a new session with the AI tool and ask the AI tool to refetch the available tools.
Known limitations of campaign management in data sources
Campaign management is under active development, so this list reflects current gaps rather than permanent restrictions. Check the Supermetrics MCP server changelog for the latest updates before assuming an operation isn't supported.
Google Ads:
Google Ads Life Event and Topic audience targeting: These audience types aren't supported yet through campaign_update, even though
targeting_searchcan find their IDs.Performance Max asset groups: Asset groups can fail to reach Google Ads even when campaign creation succeeds. Check your campaign in Google Ads after creating it.
Adding keywords to an existing ad group: This can return a success response without the keywords actually being added. Verify new keywords in Google Ads after adding them.
Demand Gen video ads: Creating ads inside Demand Gen campaigns isn't supported yet.
Facebook video ads: Video creatives aren't fully supported. Image ads work as expected.
For all of the above, we recommend reviewing changes in Google Ads, Meta Ads, or Microsoft Advertising directly until we confirm the fix.
