If you’re connecting to Instagram Insights, follow the instructions in our [connection guide](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-connection-guide). See [Instagram Insights metrics and dimensions](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-fields) for the fields available in this data source. ## Request limits and recommended refresh window **Request limit**: See [Meta’s documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/overview/rate-limiting#instagram-graph-api). **Recommended refresh window**: 5 days ## Historical range - Metrics data is stored for up to 2 years. - Stories disappear after 24 hours. - The media endpoint gets a maximum of 10,000 of the most recently created objects. ## Accounts in Instagram Insights In the Instagram Insights connector, each Profile is considered a separate account within the connection. Your Supermetrics subscription determines how many [data source accounts](https://docs.supermetrics.com/docs/about-data-source-accounts) you can use simultaneously. ## Things to consider ### Login method options You can log in to Instagram Insights using Instagram login or Facebook login. The Facebook login stays active for 60 days, but Instagram login is persistent. To keep your data connected without reconnecting every 60 days, use the Instagram login. See the [Instagram Insights connection guide](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-connection-guide) for details. ### Account access with Instagram login With the Instagram login, you can access only one account at a time. To use multiple accounts with the Instagram login, create separate connections to each Instagram account. ### Fields not available with Instagram login Some features and functionalities are not supported by the API when using the Instagram login method. See [Meta’s documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/instagram-platform/reference/instagram-media) for details. If you’re using the Instagram login and get errors like the following, you have to switch back to the Facebook Login method instead to get the data. - `Instagram Insights Media API endpoint does not support the metrics: xxxx.` - `Error: Batched insights request exceeded retries` ### Time zone Meta’s API for Instagram Insights appears to use UTC-7:00 as the time zone to determine days. This may contribute to discrepancies and other issues based on time. ### Story data limitation Note that Story data is only available in Instagram Insights for 24 hours after a Story is created. This means that you'll need to use the ["Combine new results with old" setting in Google Sheets](/v1/docs/how-to-use-the-combine-new-results-with-old-setting-in-google-sheets) to add this data to your reports in Google Sheets. ### Collaboration posts Instagram media collaboration post data can only be read by the Instagram media creator; collaborators can’t get data on media they collaborated on. ## More resources - [Instagram Insights connection guide](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-connection-guide) - [Instagram Insights report building guide](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-report-building-guide) - [Instagram Insights metrics and dimensions](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-fields) - [Instagram Insights updates](/v1/docs/instagram-insights-updates)
