# Tripadvisor Reviews report building guide

Use the Tripadvisor Reviews connector to check how many reviews and what kind of ratings a destination on Tripadvisor has received, and analyze reviews and ratings over time. Perform competitor analysis and benchmarking by comparing reviews and ratings across destinations.

## Before you begin

Before you build reports, you need to connect the data source to Supermetrics.

## Query types

In Data Studio, you must select a query type when connecting to Tripadvisor Reviews:

- **Reviews:** View up to 100 of the most recent reviews for a destination.

## Popular queries

These query configurations help you track key performance indicators and analyze trends. You can use these settings in any Supermetrics destination, such as Data Explorer, Dashboards, Google Sheets, Data Studio, or data warehouse destinations.

### Browse ratings and review content

See the text, rating, date, and link for each review — useful for qualitative analysis of what reviewers are saying and identifying common themes in feedback.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:

#### Understanding the data

- **Review date:** The date the review was published on Tripadvisor.
- **Rating:** The star rating given by the reviewer.
- **Text:** The written content of the review.
- **Link to review:** A direct URL to the review on Tripadvisor.

### Monitor average rating and review volume

See your overall average rating alongside the total number of reviews — a quick view of your current reputation standing and how many data points it is based on.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:

See how your average rating and review volume have evolved month by month — useful for spotting whether sentiment is improving or declining over time and assessing the impact of service or operational changes.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:

#### Understanding the data

- **Average rating:** The mean star rating across reviews within the reporting period.
- **Reviews:** The number of reviews received within the reporting period.
- **Year & Month:** Splits results by month so you can track rating and volume trends over time.

### Analyze reviews by language

See how reviews are distributed across languages month by month — useful for understanding which markets your reviewers are coming from and identifying whether sentiment differs across language groups.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:
