# Snowflake's mandatory MFA - Action required by November 2025

Snowflake has announced that multi-factor authentication (MFA) will become mandatory by November 2025, and single-factor password authentication will no longer be supported. [Learn more about this change in the Snowflake blog](https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/blocking-single-factor-password-authentification/).

This change will also affect Supermetrics users using Snowflake as their data destination.

To avoid disruptions, we strongly recommend migrating to key-pair authentication as soon as possible.

If you continue using username + password authentication, you will experience multiple authentication prompts (10+ per transfer run), making this method impractical.

## What you need to do

If you currently use username + password authentication, you’ll need to switch to key-pair authentication as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access. [Follow these instructions to configure key pair authentication in Snowflake](https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/key-pair-auth#configuring-key-pair-authentication).

Follow these steps to transition your transfers smoothly:

1. Clone your existing Snowflake destinations. Go to **Data warehousing** under **Manage** on the [Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/), and click the **Clone destination** icon for each Snowflake destination you want to transition to key-pair and set up the new destination with the new authentication method.
2. Edit your current transfers. Go to **Data transfers** under **Manage** on the [Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/), and edit each Snowflake transfer by selecting **Edit transfer** under the three-dot menu. Switch the destination of the transfer to the newly created Snowflake destination.
