# Microsoft Advertising: Permissions troubleshooting guide

Most permissions issues with the Microsoft Advertising data source are due to how a user’s Microsoft account is set up. For example, it could be that the Microsoft Advertising account is connected to the user's personal Microsoft account, which causes the connection to fail when a user attempts to log in with a work account.

Another cause for permission issues is that the Supermetrics app isn't installed or the company's administrator hasn't approved installing our app. In this case, the administrator must grant consent for the app.

## Instructions

**To fix the "Need admin approval" error**, ask the IT administrator or person managing your Microsoft environment to do the following:

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> All following steps must be completed by the administrator account so that other users have consent to use the Microsoft Advertising connector.
>
> 1. If the admin is a Supermetrics user, follow steps 1-3.
> 2. If the admin is not a Supermetrics user, follow instructions in steps 1-2 and 4.

1. Log in to [Microsoft Entra](https://entra.microsoft.com/) as an administrator.
2. Follow the instructions to [enable tenant-wide consent](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/enterprise-apps/grant-admin-consent?pivots=portal) in Microsoft Entra, and enable consent for the installation of the Supermetrics Bing Ads OAuth2 app.If you want to grant consent for a single user, [follow these instructions to grant consent](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/entra/identity/enterprise-apps/grant-consent-single-user?pivots=msgraph-powershell).
3. If administrator is a Supermetrics user:
  1. The admin goes to the [Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com) or your data destination where you can connect to data sources.
  2. The admin logs in to the Microsoft Advertising data source connector with their administrator account and accepts the consent dialog.
4. If the administrator is not a Supermetrics user:
  1. The Supermetrics user goes to the [Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com).
  2. The Supermetrics user shares the authentication link for the Microsoft Advertising data source with the admin so that they can log in with their administrator account and accept the consent dialog. [Follow the instructions under "Share authentication link" in this support article](/v1/docs/how-to-connect-to-data-sources-from-supermetrics-hub).

With these changes, other users in that environment should be able to log in to the connector without the error. If you need additional help, contact Microsoft Support.
