# How to view activation activity logs

##

You can view the history of changes made to your audiences and journeys in the activation activity log. This log helps you track who made changes, what actions were taken, and when they occurred.

The activation activity log acts as a single source of truth for all data mutations and changes regarding your activations (audiences and journeys). It provides a detailed chronological record of actions to help teams establish accountability and troubleshoot issues effectively.

## Log retention and history

The activity log stores data for a minimum of 365 days. When you open the log, it displays activities from the last 7 days by default. You can load older activities in 7-day increments by clicking **Show more** at the bottom of the list.

## Understanding the table

The activity log table organizes events chronologically.

- **Done by**: Identifies the actor who performed the action. This displays the user's name or email address. If the system performed an automated update (such as a migration or forced change), you will see **System Assistant** listed as the actor.
- **At time**: Shows the exact date and time of the action (displayed in `YYYY-MM-DD` and `HH:MM:SS` format).
- **Activity**: Describes the specific event that occurred.

## Activities logged

The log captures the following overarching events for an activation:

- **Created**: The initial creation of the activation.
- **Published**: The activation was set to live.
- **Starred** / **Unstarred**: The activation was marked or unmarked as a favorite.
- **Historic processing**: Logs when processing is scheduled, started, stopped, failed, or successful.
- **Updated**: This is a general status for configuration changes. An "Updated" event includes changes to names, descriptions, goals, exit conditions, labels, rules, properties, and connectors.

## Before you begin

You need access to the Orchestration module to view activation logs.

## Instructions

You can access the Activity log panel from three different views within the platform.

### Open from overview

1. Go to the **Audiences** or **Journeys** overview page.
2. Locate the activation you want to check.
3. On the activation row, click the **3-dot icon**.
4. Select **Activity log**.

### Open from edit view

1. Open the audience or journey you want to inspect.
2. Click the **3-dot icon** in the top navigation.
3. Select **Activity log**.

### Open from statistics

1. Go to the **Statistics** page for your activation.
2. Next to the **View activation** button, click **Activity log**.

## Troubleshooting

`No owner recorded`

If you see "No owner recorded" in the **Done by** column, we could not identify the owner for the action. This can happen if the action was performed by a system process or if the user account associated with the action no longer exists.
