The following error is caused by the account values in the parameter inside Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio) report that have been changed or are no longer valid.
This data source was improperly configured. The parameters available in this report have changed and the current values are no longer valid.
Follow these steps if you see this error in Looker Studio.
Instructions
Solution 1: Targeted Fix
This solution fixes the error by re-validating the account selection only in the specific chart that is failing. This is the recommended approach if your report utilizes different account selections across various charts.
Log in to Looker Studio and open the impaced report.
Click the specific chart or element that’s displaying the error.
In the Looker Studio configuration panel (usually on the right), scroll down to the connector parameters (where the accounts are selected).
In the dropdown menu selection, deselect and immediately reselect the accounts required for this specific chart. Even if the accounts appear correct, this action forces Looker Studio to refresh the parameter value, solving the error.
The error should clear immediately for this chart.
Solution 2: Global Fix
If Solution 1 does not resolve the issue, or if the error persists across multiple elements, you can apply this global fix.
Note
This action involves toggling the data source configuration and will likely reset any custom account selections you have configured for individual charts or elements within this report.
Log in to Looker Studio and open the impacted report.
Click any report element to open Supermetrics.
Navigate to Data sources in the Supermetrics pane.
Click the pencil icon next to the affected data source.
Click Edit connection.
Deselect the Allow "Select accounts" to be modified in reports checkbox.
Click Reconnect.
Click Apply.
Click Done.
If you want to re-enable the Allow "Select accounts" to be modified in reports option, you can follow the steps above and select the checkbox. Note that re-enabling this option has a chance of introducing the same error the next time your account values have been changed or are no longer valid.
You'll also see this error if you've set up multiple account selector controls from different data sources on the same Looker Studio report page. To avoid the error, make sure that you use only one account selector control per page.
