# How to connect data sources to Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio)

The first step in moving your data in Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) with Supermetrics is to connect to our platform.

You can connect to data sources to Data Studio in different ways:

- If you’re connecting your first data source, follow our [guided onboarding on the Data Studio page on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/looker-studio).
- You can also connect to data sources:
  - [From the Data sources page on Supermetrics Hub](/docs/how-to-connect-data-sources-to-data-studio#connect-from-data-sources-page-on-supermetrics-hub)
  - [From the Data Studio data source gallery](/docs/how-to-connect-data-sources-to-data-studio#connect-from-data-source-gallery)
  - [From the data source gallery on the Supermetrics website](/docs/how-to-connect-data-sources-to-data-studio#connect-from-data-source-gallery)

[Our data source guides](/v1/docs/connect) explain the specific requirements for connecting to each data source.

The following video shows how to connect to one of our most popular data sources — Facebook Ads — using the guided onboarding flow on the Supermetrics Hub.

## Instructions

> [!NOTE]
> Guided onboarding for Data Studio
>
> Follow our [guided onboarding on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/looker-studio) to get going with your reporting in Data Studio.
>
> The guided onboarding covers connecting to data sources, styling your report, sharing your report, and adding more data sources to get a wider view of your key metrics on one dashboard.

### Connect from Data sources page on Supermetrics Hub

Follow these instructions to connect to the data source on Supermetrics Hub and use your connection in Data Studio.

1. Go to the [Data sources page on the Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management).
2. Scroll down to the list of data sources you haven't connected to. You see this list below your existing connections, under the title **Connect to new data source**.
3. Hover over the new data source, and click **Connect**.
4. Choose to make this connection [shared or private](/v1/docs/about-shared-and-private-connections).
5. Depending on the data source, enter your credentials and click **Start**, or click **Start** directly and then log in to the data source. [See our data source guides for the permissions each data source requires](/v1/docs/connect).
6. Next, log in to Data Studio with the same credentials you use when logging in to Supermetrics Hub. Be sure to use the email address assigned to your Supermetrics subscription. If you log in to Data Studio with an email that isn't assigned to a valid Supermetrics subscription, a new trial is created instead.
7. Go to the [Data Studio data source gallery](https://lookerstudio.google.com/data?search=supermetrics).
8. Select the Supermetrics data source you connected to on the Hub.
9. Click **Authorize**. The connection you created on the Hub shows in the view that opens.
10. Click **Complete and continue**.
11. Click **Close this window** to return to Data Studio.
12. If you're a member of multiple Supermetrics teams, select the team to use with this connection and click **Next**.
13. Select the data source parameters — such as accounts to use or a report type — you'd like to use in your reporting. Click **Next**, if prompted.
14. If the data source has a report template available, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select **Use report template for new reports**. To create a blank report, deselect this option. Note that not all data sources have report templates.
15. In the pane's top right, click **Connect**.
16. Click **Create report**.
17. Click **Add to report** or **Create report**.

## Next steps

[Create a report with Supermetrics in Data Studio](/v1/docs/how-to-create-a-data-studio-report-with-supermetrics).

## Troubleshooting

If you run into trouble logging in or authenticating, it could be due to one of these issues. If the error's coming from Data Studio itself, [Google's comprehensive troubleshooting tips could help](https://support.google.com/datastudio/answer/12182485#zippy=%2Cin-this-article).

### Account issues

You must log in to Data Studio using the same email account you use for your Supermetrics subscription. Check in the top-right corner of the Data Studio window that you’re logged in with the right account, and change the account if necessary.

If you or your organization uses multiple accounts to access either Data Studio or your data sources, cookies and permissions can cause issues when logging in.

If Data Studio automatically logs you in with the wrong account, clear your cookies before connecting to Supermetrics. This should help ensure that you’re logged in with the right account.

### Authentication

If you get stuck in a loop with failed authentication, [follow these instructions to diagnose and solve the problem](/v1/docs/how-to-fix-authentication-errors-in-supermetrics).

### Multiple accounts or logins

If you encounter an error message telling you that `This action is not supported when you are signed in to multiple accounts` , [follow these instructions to solve the issue](/v1/docs/how-to-fix-login-errors-across-multiple-google-accounts).

### Team and connection selection

If the account you want to use doesn't show up after selecting the team, check that the team you selected has access to the connection you want to use. To fix this, add the connection to the team you want to use or select a team with access to the connection.
