# How to change a subscription user ID

This guide describes how to change the Supermetrics user ID assigned to a subscription (your *subscription user ID*) on the [Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/).

## Before you begin

Make sure to [add the user you'd like to change the ID to](/v1/docs/how-to-manage-your-supermetrics-team) as a team member. [Learn how to see all of your subscription's users](/v1/docs/how-to-manage-your-supermetrics-subscription).

### Check your modification count

You can change a subscription user ID up to 5 times during the subscription period. This is called your modification count.

To see your modification count, [open the Subscriptions page on the Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/subscriptions), or click your email address in the top-right corner and select **Subscriptions**. Find the subscription you'd like to review, and click it to view the subscription details. Your modification count will be visible under "Users".

### Transfer queries

You should transfer any queries assigned to the subscription user ID you're changing in advance. This ensures that your reporting will keep running during and after the change.

- [How to transfer queries in Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio)](/v1/docs/how-to-transfer-supermetrics-reports-and-data-sources-in-data-studio)
- [How to transfer queries in Excel](/v1/docs/how-to-transfer-supermetrics-queries-to-other-users-in-excel)

### Check your credit card details

If you're changing the subscription user ID because a teammate is leaving your company, make sure that the card linked to your subscription will remain valid after they leave. [Learn how to update your credit card details](/v1/docs/how-to-update-your-credit-card-details).

## Instructions

### Google Sheets, Data Studio, Excel, and Power BI

1. Go to the [Subscriptions page](https://hub.supermetrics.com/subscriptions) on the Supermetrics Hub. Check from the top bar that you're in the right team.
2. Select the subscription you'd like to reassign.
3. Under "Users", select **Assign user**.

We recommend that you [reconnect to your data sources](/v1/docs/how-to-reauthenticate-a-data-source-connection-in-google-sheets-looker-studio-excel-power-bi-and-supermetrics-hub) after completing the change.

### BigQuery and the Supermetrics API

BigQuery and Supermetrics API subscriptions use the Team membership feature. To change a subscription user ID, you'll have to [change team members and their roles](/v1/docs/how-to-manage-your-supermetrics-team). The user originally assigned to the subscription will generally be the team's initial Owner. (There are no BigQuery or API subscription owners — there are only Team owners.)

We recommend that you [reconnect to your data sources](/v1/docs/how-to-reauthenticate-a-data-source-connection-in-data-warehouse-destinations-or-the-supermetrics-api) after completing the change.
