# Harvest connection guide

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your Harvest data to Supermetrics.

You can connect to data sources from the [Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management). On the Hub, you can also [share an authentication link](/v1/docs/how-to-connect-to-data-sources-from-supermetrics-hub#share-authentication-link) to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in [all available destinations](/v1/docs/harvest-connection-guide#connection-instructions).

## Required permissions

The Harvest API mirrors your account permissions. For this reason, you'll need access to an **Administrator**account to access your data. [Learn more in Harvest's documentation](https://support.getharvest.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048180732-The-Harvest-API).

## Query types

Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. Each Harvest query type pulls time and billing data by the dimension in its name (for example, the Projects report pulls data by client or project). You need to select one of the following query types when pulling data:

Note that Project, Client, Task, and Team reports allow only reporting with monthly granularity.

- Projects report
- Clients report
- Tasks report
- Team report
- Time entries (not available in Data Studio)

Harvest's API allows a maximum of 100 requests every 15 minutes. If you find any of your Harvest queries timing out, wait 15 minutes and try again.

## Connection instructions

When connecting to Harvest, you need to log in to Harvest and select the query type when prompted.

1. Select the Harvest data source [on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management) or in the data destination.
2. If prompted, choose to make this connection [shared or private](/v1/docs/about-shared-and-private-connections).
3. Click **Start**.
4. Sign in with your Harvest account.
5. Click **Authorize application**.
6. In your data destination, select the query type to use.
