This article outlines recommendations and notes certain limitations imposed by the data source API, which you may need to consider when building your queries.
If you’re connecting to this data source, please follow the instructions in our connection guide, and the available fields for this connector are listed in the metrics and dimensions documentation.
Request limits and recommended refresh rate
Request limit: See Mailchimp documentation.
Recommended refresh window: 2-3 days
Historical range
There are no known limitations to the historical range of data you can pull with the Mailchimp data source connector. This means you can pull data for the account lifetime.
Accounts in Mailchimp
The Mailchimp data source connector supports fetching data from an unlimited number of accounts.
Things to consider
Mailchimp login issues
In case you’re not logged in to Mailchimp, it’s possible that you won’t be able to log in to the Mailchimp data source with Supermetrics. Instead, you’ll see an infinite loop on the Mailchimp site after you give access to the Mailchimp connector.
To solve this issue, log in to Mailchimp and try to connect to the Mailchimp data source once more.
Discrepancies with Mailchimp reporting
Mailchimp's own reporting screens can show numbers that don't match what Supermetrics returns from the Mailchimp API. This can look like a problem with Supermetrics, but it usually isn't.
The campaign summary view in Mailchimp sometimes shows totals that don't add up. For example, the summary might show a lower number of clicks than unique clicks, which isn't possible. When you see this, open the detailed report for the campaign and add up the numbers for each link. This detailed total usually matches what Supermetrics gets from the Mailchimp API, even when it's different from the summary view.
If a value in Supermetrics looks off, check the detailed campaign report in Mailchimp before assuming something's wrong. The summary view isn't always accurate.
If the detailed report still doesn't match the value in Supermetrics, contact our support team with:
A screenshot of the value in Supermetrics.
A screenshot of your query configuration (or the query ID for Google Sheets, or a link to the report).
A screenshot of the value in Mailchimp's detailed report, not the summary view.
Unsubscription rate and Unsubscribes
If you place "Unsubscription rate (%)" before "Unsubscribes", the query will fail.
No full support for multivariate campaigns
Supermetrics doesn't fully support multivariate campaigns (A/B testing). Most common problems include empty values for:
Total revenue
Subject line
A/B specific fields
Unique clicks and/or clicks
Total orders
