# Capterra PPC report building guide

Use the Capterra PPC connector to track and analyze campaign spending and performance over time. Integrate performance data from multiple marketing platforms to compare results, and benchmark metrics such as clicks, CPC, and conversions across different paid media channels.

## Before you begin

Before you build reports, you need to connect the data source to Supermetrics.

- **Connection instructions:** See our [Capterra PPC connection guide](/v1/docs/capterra-ppc-connection-guide).
- **Available metrics and dimensions:** Find the full list of fields in our [Capterra PPC field documentation](/v1/docs/capterra-ppc-fields).

## Query types

With this data source, you need to select a query type to get the right type of data:

- **Clicks:** Provides access to essential performance metrics, including advertising costs, number of clicks, conversions, average position, CPC, and CPA/CPL. Supports splitting data by vendor, product, country, category, channel, and time.

## Popular queries

These query configurations help you track key performance indicators and analyze trends. You can use these settings in any Supermetrics destination, such as Data Explorer, Dashboards, Google Sheets, Data Studio, or data warehouse destinations.

### Track monthly ad spend this year

See how much you've spent on advertising each month year to date, making it easy to spot budget trends and compare spend across months.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:

| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Query type | Clicks |
| Date range | This year to date |
| Metrics | Cost (USD) |
| Dimensions | Year & month |
| Suggested visualization | Bar chart |

#### Understanding the data

- **Cost (USD):** The total cost incurred for all clicks on your advertisements during the selected period, reported in US dollars.
- **Year & month:** Splits results by month so you can compare spend across the year.

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> If you need advertising cost in a different currency, use the **Cost (EUR)** or **Cost (GBP)** fields available in the Capterra PPC data source instead.

### Monitor conversions over time

Track how many desired actions — such as newsletter signups, purchases, or app installations — users completed after clicking your ads last month.

To fetch this data, use the following settings in your reporting or visualization tool:

| Setting | Value |

#### Understanding the data

- **Conversions:** The number of desired actions users completed after clicking your ads, such as a newsletter signup, purchase, or app installation.
- **Date:** Splits results by day so you can track how conversions fluctuate over the month.

### Compare cost and clicks by channel

See how your ad spend and click volume break down across different channels this year, helping you identify which placements deliver the best return.
