# CallRail connection guide

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your CallRail data to Supermetrics.

You can connect to data sources from the [Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management). On the Hub, you can also [share an authentication link](/v1/docs/how-to-connect-to-data-sources-from-supermetrics-hub#share-authentication-link) to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in [all available destinations](/v1/docs/callrail-connection-guide#connection-instructions).

## Required permissions

To connect Supermetrics to CallRail, you need:

- An API key. [Follow CallRail’s instructions to create your key](https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5711821845389-CallRail-s-API-documentation).
- The Admin, Manager, or Reporting user role level for each business account. Learn more about [user roles in CallRail](https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5711810545421-Users) and [user management](https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5712155833613-Editing-and-removing-users-in-Account-Center).

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> CallRail's API usage is based on tiers. 0-1500 API calls per month are free but heavier usage may incur additional charges from CallRail. More information on CallRail's API tiers is available [here](https://support.callrail.com/hc/en-us/articles/5711821845389-CallRail-s-API).

## Query types

Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. You need to select one of the following query types when pulling data:

- **Calls**
  - Returns data on calls and leads acquired through calls. Find metrics like the number of calls, answer rate, call duration, lead amount, and lead value.
  - Gathers data about call insights by splitting the data by time, call source, number, or agent. This can help with resource planning and identifying the best-performing agents.
  - Gathers data on a specific call and fetches direct links to recordings.

- **Form submissions**
  - Returns data on form submissions and leads acquired through forms. Find metrics like the number of form submissions, lead amount, and lead value.
  - Gathers lead insights by splitting the data by time or by source. You can also fetch all form submission data to dig into specific answers.
