# Branch connection guide

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your Branch data to Supermetrics.

You can connect to data sources from the [Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management). On the Hub, you can also [share an authentication link](/v1/docs/how-to-connect-to-data-sources-from-supermetrics-hub#share-authentication-link) to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in [all available destinations](/v1/docs/branch-connection-guide#connection-instructions).

## Required permissions

To connect Supermetrics to your Branch account, you'll need a Branch key and secret. Get the key and key secret from **Branch Dashboard → Account Settings → Profile**.

To access the Query API, you need to have both Aggregate Data and Export access. [Learn more about the Query API in Branch help](https://help.branch.io/developers-hub/reference/query-api).

## Query types

Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. You need to select one of the following query types when pulling data:

- **Summary (total)**: Get the raw organic data for app analytics from the Branch summary dashboard.
- **Summary (unique)**: Get the unique data for app analytics from the Branch summary dashboard.

[Learn more about the Branch dashboard and the relevant query types and filters to use with Supermetrics](/v1/docs/about-api-rate-limits-and-discrepancies-in-branch).

## Connection instructions

When connecting to Branch, you need to provide your Branch key and secret.

1. Select the Branch data source [on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management) or in the data destination.
2. Enter your Branch key and secret.
