# Ahrefs connection guide

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your Ahrefs data to Supermetrics.

<meta charset="utf-8">

You can connect to data sources from the [Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub](https://hub.supermetrics.com/token-management). On the Hub, you can also [share an authentication link](https://docs.supermetrics.com/v1/docs/how-to-connect-to-data-sources-from-supermetrics-hub#share-authentication-link) to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in [all available destinations](/docs/ahrefs-connection-guide#connection-instructions).

> [!NOTE]
> Ahrefs and Ahrefs (legacy)
>
> We introduced a new version of our Ahrefs data source connector in February 2024. We updated this connector on October 29, 2025 to allow customers on any Ahrefs plan to connect using your Ahrefs login details. The Ahrefs (legacy) connector will be fully deprecated and stop working on October 31, 2025.

## Required permissions

To connect Supermetrics to Ahrefs, you need:

- An **Admin** or **Owner** user role level. See Ahrefs' documentation about [member roles and access levels](https://help.ahrefs.com/en/articles/6791295-access-control-features) and [how to add a new user to your account](https://help.ahrefs.com/en/articles/411099-how-do-i-add-a-new-user-to-my-account).

### Multiple user accounts

It's not possible to add multiple user accounts in the same login for Ahrefs. To log in with a different user account, you need to log out from all other Ahrefs accounts in Supermetrics.

### Target URL

We support HTTP, HTTPS, and WWW for the Target URL field.

## Query types

Query types define what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. You need to select one of the following query types when pulling data:

- **Overview**: Pull overview metrics from Backlink profile, Organic search and Paid search.
- **Backlinks**: Understand specific referring pages yielding high and/or low traffic and their overall domain rating
- **Referring domains**: Shows website domains for which target URL is referring
- **Organic keywords**: Shows the organic keywords for which the target URL ranks for
- **Top pages**: Shows which pages of the target URL get the most organic search traffic
- **Paid pages**: Shows which pages of the target URL get the most paid search traffic
- **Keyword explorer: Overview**: Get relevant keyword ideas with search volume, keyword difficulty, and other advanced metrics
