Adform dimension limit changes for quota optimization - August 12, 2025

Prev Next

On August 12, 2025, we'll begin to deploy an optimization to Adform that will allow us to bulk advertisers together into single requests, reducing the amount of quota required.

Part of this optimization requires that we add the "Client ID" dimension to all requests, which may put queries over the 8 dimension limit, so some action may be required to prevent dimension limit errors.

What you need to do

Before August 12, 2025, check your queries or transfers to verify if you have any configurations that may potentially exceed the 8-dimension limit if "Client ID" is added.

If you have such cases, modify them to make room for one more dimension.

Note that if the query is at 8 dimensions and already includes "Client ID" or "Client", it should be safe.

If queries that would exceed the maximum allowed dimensions with the inclusion of "Client ID" are not edited in time, you'll get an error message asking you to reduce the number of dimensions.

Special cases

There are cases where the dimension may not count towards the 8-dimension limit:

  • "Data Source", system metadata dimensions like "Duration"/"Timezone", and other internal Supermetrics fields don't count towards the limit.

  • If the query includes multiple date dimensions, like "Date" and "Week", or "Date", "Week", and "Month", it’s counted as one dimension as the date dimensions are derived from "Date".

  • If a query includes both "Country" and "Country ID", this counts as 1 dimension.

  • If a query includes both "Client ID" and "Client", it counts as 2 dimensions.

  • If a query includes a Cost field with a specific currency, “Cost USD” for example, this will add an unseen currency dimension that counts towards the limit.

Some additional scenarios to be aware of as they may cause extra dimensions to be included in non-obvious ways:

  • Custom fields that include multiple dimensions in their transformation/calculation will count as multiple dimensions for the purposes of the request to Adform API

  • Filters on dimensions not already included in the query
