# About using Supermetrics with single sign-on (SSO)

Single sign-on (SSO) allows your team members to access Supermetrics using their organization's identity provider (IdP). This enhances security and simplifies login management.

## Zero-configuration SSO with Google and Microsoft

Logging into Supermetrics requires either a Google Account or a Microsoft account, unless you are using SAML. This means that signing into Supermetrics with a Google or Microsoft account will trigger a single sign-on (SSO) flow, including any 2-factor authentication steps your organization has enabled.

If a user is offboarded from the company account directory, their access to Supermetrics will be denied if they can’t sign in to their company account.

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> If you're trying to sign in using a Microsoft account and see an error that says **Need admin approval** or **Approval required**, [follow these instructions to solve the issue](/v1/docs/how-to-fix-the-microsoft-need-admin-approval-error).

We recommend enabling 2-factor authentication (sometimes called 2-step authentication) for any SSO accounts you use with Supermetrics.

## SAML 2.0

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> SAML 2.0 is available for customers with the Enterprise package.

SAML 2.0 is a widely adopted SSO standard that allows secure sign-on through various identity providers. We currently offer detailed configuration guides for the following SAML implementations:

- [Google Workspace](/v1/docs/how-to-configure-google-workspace-sso-in-supermetrics)
- [Microsoft Entra ID](/v1/docs/how-to-configure-microsoft-entra-id-sso-in-supermetrics)
- [Okta Workforce Identity Cloud](/v1/docs/how-to-configure-okta-sso-in-supermetrics)

Note that while we offer configuration guides for Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, and Okta Workforce Identity Cloud, any SAML identity provider is compatible with Supermetrics. For instructions on setting up SSO with your specific identity provider, see the configuration guides above, or [contact us](https://hub.supermetrics.com/support) about your identity provider.

## After you log in

Once you’ve logged in or connected a data source, Supermetrics accesses data using OAuth tokens. [Learn more about OAuth](https://www.oauth.com/oauth2-servers/access-tokens/).
