# About Instagram Insights Story reporting limitations

Instagram Insights imposes [a few limitations on Story reporting](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-api/reference/ig-media/insights#limitations).

## Data availability

Instagram API only keeps Story data for 24 hours, but starting from October 30, 2026, Supermetrics saves every Story and its metrics while it's live for any account that's had its Stories queried through Supermetrics.

This means you can pull up to 3 years of Story history starting from October 30, 2026, or from the first time the account's Stories were fetched with Supermetrics, whichever is later.

## Insufficient views

If you request insights data for a Story with fewer than 5 views, it will return the selected dimensions with 0 values for the metrics. This acts as a kind of placeholder until enough views happen that the insights data can be recorded.
