# About Instagram Insights story reporting limitations

Instagram Insights imposes [a few limitations on story reporting](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-api/reference/ig-media/insights#limitations).

## Data availability

The Instagram Insights API gives a short lifespan to stories. This means that they’re only available for 24 hours after they’re created, even if they’re highlighted or archived.

As a result, story data will continually disappear from reporting.

If you’re using Supermetrics with Google Sheets, you can use our [Combine new results with old](/v1/docs/how-to-use-the-combine-new-results-with-old-setting-in-google-sheets) feature to store story data as historical data. This allows you to collect this data over time.

## Insufficient views

If you request Insights data on a story with fewer than 5 views, you’ll see an error that reads:

- `Error: Instagram Insights failure (#10) Not enough viewers for the media to show insights`

Add more views to your stories to see them in Insights.
