Instagram Insights imposes a few limitations on story reporting.
Data availability
The Instagram Insights API gives a short lifespan to stories. This means that they’re only available for 24 hours after they’re created, even if they’re highlighted or archived.
As a result, story data will continually disappear from reporting.
If you’re using Supermetrics with Google Sheets, you can use our Combine new results with old feature to store story data as historical data. This allows you to collect this data over time.
Insufficient views
If you request insights data for a story with fewer than 5 views, it will return the selected dimensions with 0 values for the metrics. This acts as a kind of placeholder until enough views happen that the insights data can be recorded.
To ensure you’re able to get the actual insights for the story once more than views happen, you’ll need to run the query again before the 24-hour lifespan expires. Otherwise, you’ll be left with the placeholder values for the metrics.
